Everyone used to wear a standard necktie often, but have you ever thought about how did you get to this type of tie? how many different types of other ties are there rather than your necktie? How did these various ties get into men’s fashion wear? 

The revolution from the 17 or 18th century in the necktie results in these different kinds of ties invention. Almost all of them are still worn by different men, in the modern fashion era as neckwear with a different style.

1. STANDARD TIE

The first type of tie that we usually wear is a standard tie. The largest number of men all over the world used to wear this tie. This is the most elegant and fascinating type of tie. It is aplomb of men’s formal wear. 
We used to call it a necktie, normal tie, tie, or normal necktie also.

The standard necktie also has various types like; plain, patterned, thick, and thin. But their length is almost identical in every type. It is a long length cloth that is sewn by folding. One end of that tie is wider than the other end. On both ends, they have a V-shape cut.

The tie is famous for making different types of knots with it. You can make various types of tie knots design with that type of tie. Some famous tie knots that people used to fasten it in, is the four in hand, the Windsor and the tough one the Eldredge knot. By practising you can learn how to tie these tie knots. There are more tie knots you can make with this tie, but You should learn at least these 3 tie knots if you are fond of wearing a standard necktie. 

2. Slim necktie

This is a 2.0 version of the standard necktie, but we do not call it a standard necktie because it is so slim than any tie. That’s why it takes a separate place when we talk about Distinguish ties.

Its vogue is just because of its width. It is so slim like a ribbon. Its length is almost identical to a standard necktie. Often found made with silky fabric.

We called it a party tie also. You should wear them when you have to go to parties in a formal dress. It is so skinny that’s why it looks like a lining is designed on a shirt. Also, you can use it as business casual wear. A plain slim tie is sometimes best for street styling also when you pair it up with a shirt.

3. CLIP-ON TIE

I’m not saying that who wears this tie is lazy, it is just humour. This is the modern generation’s tie. A one step ahead from the standard necktie

When we tie a standard tie knot in Windsor style, then the shape which it took is similar to that clip-on tie. The clip-on tie has a clip on the back of its knot. Which has to tie on the centre of the shirt’s collar.

It is a time saver tie. It saves The time it takes to tie a tie knot. It is easy to carry. It is a modern type of tie. It is easy to wear and the last longing. A standard tie sometimes gets loose and untied automatically, but the clip-on tie did not get loosen easily from the shirt and when it is pre-tied and sewn then there are no chances of untieing it. 

4. CRAVAT TIE

Let us go back on history, the history from where the tie’s trend has started. I’m talking about history because the first neckwear which has started to wear as a tie is ‘cravat’. The tie is related to Croatia country. That’s why it is named a cravat. Cravat has a brief history of how it becomes the first-ever type of tie which people used to wear. 

Design

The cravat is a long and wide cloth which comes with different types of patterns and various colours on it. It is a type of tie which has to fasten on the neck under the shirt and let the first two or three-button open of the shirt to show it off. 

Speciality 

It is the oldest type of tie, which is still used to wear under the shirt and then with a suit. There are different ways of tieing a cravat also like a standard necktie. The best and often used way of tieing cravat is its traditional way. The traditional way of tieing a cravat is still used by people who used to wear a cravat. 

5. BOW TIE

It looks like routine type wear which often used as a profession in which routine with discipline is essential. It is strictly for formal wear. Very few people wear them with casual wear.

Its design is very distinct from other types of ties described above. It is a long sewn type of cloth that is made with different types of fabrics. Both ends of that cloth are wider than its middle part and they are in a similar shape or cut. Tieing a bow tie also a part which you have to learn if you wanted to wear a bow tie.

The culture of using this tie as a uniform has been following from the 18th century in different professions like; professors, teachers, receipt collectors, waiters, and politicians, etc. The bow ties also have various types like; pre-tied bows, adjustable bows, nonadjustable bows. 

6. Stock tie

The next type of tie has a history with it. This the tie of rich people of the 18th century. It was used to wear by those people who were fond of luxurious wear at that time. 

Design

The luxurious type of tie deserves a luxurious design. The thing that makes it look like a luxurious tie is a broach on that tie. Abroach is aplomb of this tie. A broach takes place in that tie, it can be anywhere but often found in the centre. It has some more blinging materials in its design for making it look a bit more luxurious. 

Speciality

As says it was a luxurious type of tie of the 18th century. Nowadays, It is also worn as a themed dress at a party or the function of a rich man’s.
It is a very elegant tie, not just in history in modern days their millions of people who used to wear this tie. 

7. ASCOT TIE

It is version 2.0 of a cravat because it is as similar as a cravat necktie but with a bit of update in it. The difference between cravat and ascot or you can say the update is that it is designed Lil bit more, that it could form a knot easily. The cravat was used to simply wear under the shirt with an easy way of tieing it but an ascot is used to wear over the shirt and under the collar with a tie knot. 

Design

The design of the ascot tie is similar to the cravat to some extent. It is a long wide piece of silky cloth. That is easy to form a knot and live under a collar. 

Speciality

An updated type of cravat. The people of the 17th or 18th century when getting tired of cravat they make some new designs with their cravat which results to form an ascot tie. 

8. ZIPPER TIE

It is another variation of modern generation ties. The zipper tie is also what you can say for those people who do not want to spend their time tieing a knot. Or for those people who are unable to tie a knot of a tie like for children. If this tie is used as a children’s tie it is called a toddler tie.

Its design is similar to a clip-on tie to some extent like it is also pre-tied in a Windsor knot. The difference is that it has a zip or lace beside a clip like found in clip-on ties. It comes with various types in it, like; zip, laces adjustable laces, knot tieing laces, etc. The most common design of a zipper tie is, it has lace or zip which goes under the collar and its size is adjust by pulling the cloth, situated behind the tie. 

Speciality

Easy to tie, time-saving, and kids friendly. This type of use by children who do not knows to tie a tie knot. It is used Often in a uniform of the school of a child.

9. KNIT TIE

You have seen many times that the celebrity used to wear a tie whose end is flat or little but circular rather than a v-shape end, the tie which they used to wear is called a knit tie. Knit ties can be sewn manually with wool.

This a woollen type tie. It can be made of wool manually. It also has different designs and fabrics. This tie has a flat end on both sides. The whole tie has an identical width. Length is a little bit less than a standard tie. 

Speciality 

It is worn by different people on special occasions. You can wear it when you wanted to stand out in the crowd when everyone is wearing the same dress and tie then it can give your dress a unique look. 

10. KIPPER TIE

The tie of the 20th century, it was used to wear a lot in those days. You can say it, A small version of a standard necktie. It is still worn by many people nowadays. It looks good when it is under the suit, wearing it just with a shirt give it a weird look. 

Design

As you can see its design is similar to a normal necktie to a large extent, just its length is less than a standard necktie. They can also tie up with different tie knots, you can tie them just the way you tie a standard necktie. 

Speciality 

It was the 20th century’s tie. When the craze of the standard tie was not there, then it was used to wear as a normal tie. 

11. SIX OR SEVENFOLD TIE

The type of tie seems similar to the standard tie or normal tie but its inner folding has a difference from it. It takes 7 folds which for making it a proper tie. 

Design

Just a similar design and look like a normal necktie. Just it has six or seven folds when it’s sewn. 

12. KENTUCKY TIE

Like a gift has decorated with a ribbon to make it look more fascinating, it is similar to a ribbon which used to decorate an outfit that looks fascinating in presence of a Kentucky tie.

It looks like a bow tie with two extra arms hanging on it. It is a design of ribbon which is converted into tie and people used to wear it. It has a knot in its centre and four parts have joint with this knot the first two parts which situated horizontal and two are hanging like its two arms.

It was used to wear on a place similar where a bow tie is used, it is an alternative to the bow tie. 

13. Neckerchief 

Another type of neckwear similar to a tie. You can call it a distinct type of tie. It was famous as the neckwear of the sailor’s. The uniform of the 19th-century sailors has a type of neckwear also. That is called a neckerchief. 
It is just a thin and long cloth of silky fabric. Easily fastened on the neck with the help of a simple knot. 

14. BOLO TIE

A very unique type of tie, you can call it a necklace tie also. Neckwear looks like a necklace but wears over the shirt and tuck under the collar. It has a pendent type of material in it, it is a very elegant looking type of tie. 

15. SCARF
